This course includes an introduction to the Visual Studio Code development environment and the AL programming language for app creation for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

In this course (Part 1: Foundation) you will learn the basic handling of the individual tools of the development environment and the creation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central basic objects. You will also receive a brief introduction to the native development environment C/SIDE, which was available up to and including Business Central 14.

This course prepares you for the subsequent VS Code AL Introduction (Part 2: Advanced) course. Here you will learn how to first analyse a practice-oriented requirement and then implement it efficiently and in compliance with standards in Business Central using the effectively selected tools and techniques.

Course Participants

This course is aimed at all developers and consultants who need a technical understanding of the Visual Studio Code development environment and want to acquire basic knowledge of application functionality.

Prerequisites

An absolute prerequisite is that the participant has taken part in the basic courses

• Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central – Essentials
• Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central – Financial Management (Part 1: Essentials)
• Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central – SCM (Part 1: Essentials)

or has appropriate knowledge of Business Central.

General basic programming knowledge is also essential.
