This workshop introduces experienced and new developers and consultants to the practical use of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central tools for designing Business Central reports.

This workshop will cover the following areas:

• Structure and technical background of RDLC reports
• List reports with grouping and totalling
• Style Guide of the Report Design
• Use of AL in the report
• Matrix-Reports
• Drillthrough to a page
• Complex grouped reports on large amounts of data
• Visual options (conditional formatting, images)
• Filter options in Tablix controls
• Reporting based on queries and OData web services
• Use of unions and joins
• Requestpage design
• Custom layouts
• Introduction to Word reports

Understanding these topics will allow you to streamline your development process for integrating your own developments or customisations into Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. In this workshop, you will learn how to use the reporting tools in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

The workshop actively involves all participants by means of many practical examples and exercises.

Course Participants

This course is aimed at all experienced and new developers and consultants who have a technical understanding of the Visual Studio Code development environment and the AL programming language as well as basic knowledge of the application functionality and want to familiarise themselves with the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central tools for designing Business Central reports.

Furthermore, this course is the basis for attending the follow-up course Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central - VS Code AL Reporting (Part 2: Advanced).

Prerequisites

Advanced knowledge of the use of Dynamics Business Central, the VS Code development environment and the AL programming language.
