Course Objectives and Content

In this course, the manufacturing module in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is explained from a user’s perspective. The course covers the system setup required to use the manufacturing module, the necessary master data, and the execution of production orders. It also discusses aspects of demand and capacity planning.

Additionally, the course focuses on topics such as the valuation of produced items, subcontracting, and the use of the reservation worksheet to allocate raw materials to production orders.

The course covers the following topics:

• System setup
• Items, production BOMs, and routings
• Capacities (shifts, work calendars, work centers, machine centers)
• Production orders
• Posting consumption and output (recording work hours and finished products)
• Finishing production orders and automatic posting
• Sales order interface and order planning
• Scheduling sales orders using the order promising functionality
• Using the planning worksheet to plan the required materials
• Sales forecasts
• Subcontracting with supplied materials
• Monitoring shop floor utilization
• Using the reservation worksheet

Course Participants

This course is aimed at individuals responsible for configuring the software in manufacturing companies and training staff.

Prerequisites

A mandatory prerequisite is that the participant has completed the following foundation courses:  

• Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central – Essentials
• Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central – SCM (Part 1: Essentials)
• Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central – SCM (Part 2: Advanced)

or possesses equivalent knowledge in Business Central.

Additionally, a solid theoretical and practical knowledge of production planning and control is desirable. In Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, the production and SCM areas are closely interconnected, and this is reflected in the training.
