Course Objective and Content

This workshop introduces experienced C/AL programmers to the development of Extensions 2.0 with VS Code.

In the application scenarios, you will familiarise yourself with the modern development environment of Dynamics 365 Business Central.

We will show you how to convert your existing code into AL code and how to develop an app for Dynamics 365 Business Central.

The workshop covers the following topics:

• Introduction to Visual Studio Code
• Provision of a development environment with Docker
• Developing extensions with VS Code
• Event-based architecture & design patterns
• SaaSified user experience
• Migration of existing IPs
• In-Client Visual Designer
• Apps for Dynamics 365 Business Central
• Test-Codeunits
• Translations and Language Support
• Source Control Management (Git)

The training combines short and theoretical parts in the form of PowerPoint presentations with detailed live demonstrations of application scenarios in the system. There will also be plenty of time for questions and discussions. Participants will gain their own experience through practical exercises.

Course Participants

This course is aimed at experienced C/AL programmers who want to acquire the basic knowledge required to learn how to develop Extensions 2.0 apps for Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Prerequisites

Sound knowledge and experience of structured programming, preferably in C/AL, is essential. Ideally, this should also be applied on a daily basis.
